Medina Community Park Lightning Policy
The City has installed a Thor Guard Lightning Prediction System at the Medina Community Park, which alerts park patrons of approaching storms that may produce lightning. When hazardous conditions are detected, the System provides audio and visual indications in the form of a 15-second horn blast and continuous strobe lighting. All players, parents, coaches, and other persons must immediately clear the fields and return to the relative safety of their vehicles. Do not remain on the fields, stand in the parking lots, or seek shelter under building awnings, under trees, near fences, in sheds, in tents, or under canopies.
All persons must remain in their vehicles until the System signals that the hazardous conditions have passed, which is indicated by three short horn blasts.
